1969 Oldsmobile 442

Built this 442 Olds Cutlass from the AMT kit. Keeping it a plain Cutlass for the yard display, likely will be a fence hugger with some weeds all around it, so no need to go crazy rusting the bottom. I did however, make the side glass for this one.

The trailer is from the combo “Modified Stocker” Hauler and truck (53 Ford). The kit also comes with a nice set of torch tanks and some hand tools, a very packed kit.

There is also a 1970 version of the Olds 442 made by Johan, but expect to pay more since all those old johan kits are so rare. Recently a 72 Olds Cutlass Supreme convertible was released by Revell in 1/25 scale, fortunately it is a 2 in 1 kit, so ignore the custom version on the box lid. If you prefer the roof up look, I have had success using the top from AMT’s “Yankee Challenger” kit, It comes with a separate roof (even though you can’t tell from the box).

I have used this roof a ton of times for closing up a ragtop in my junkyard display, of course you will need to custom fit to each car, but that’s what the hobby is all about right? The reason I’m not just cutting a roof off some crap model body is, the tops I am referring too are molded as converts, they have the vinyl texture and bow creases you see in a real top.
